Construction costs of 33.5 million € were financed by HEUREKA, the Hessen investment program for colleges and universities.
Located into immediate vicinity of the ‘Excellence Cluster Cardio Pulmonary System’ (ECCPS) and the ‘Biomedical Research Centre’ (BFS) has created a concentrated medical research center. The new building was designed with a view to the energy efficiency of the building and with a focus on an innovative space concept. This makes it possible, for example, to reconfigure laboratories according to temporary requirements. For communicative exchange, there are various meeting rooms and meeting lounges within the building.
Integrated into the façade of the prismatic building are alternating clear and enamelled glasses, which give the building ist unique appearance.
The ventilation of the foyer is carried out by HAHN louvre windows system Tairmo, safety-glazed and with increased burglar safety. In the side facade HAHN louvre windows S9-iVt-05 Allglass have been installed, with their frameless blades integrated into the aesthetic design of the façade.
The width of the Allglass windows is only 530 mm and was thus adapted to the surface of the rest of the façade. Both systems were equipped with special glass, which in addition to providing sun protection also offers the best possible heat protection. The actuator cables are hidden inside the construction, in order not to disturb the aesthetic as well as functional design of the facade.
Construction of the building planned by Carpus + Partner AG has started in October 2012, completion and move to the new facility was made in February 2017.
