TU Dortmund – New hall building for car-pool services
Planned by <link http: www.vs-architekten.de external-link-new-window external link in new>VERVOORTS & SCHINDLER Architects BDA, based in Bochum, a new one-storey building for car-pool services was built in 2016 on the South Campus of the TU Dortmund.
The service hall contains 7 parking spaces, a warehouse and a lifting platform for the inspection of cars and transporters, as required. Due to the nature of its purpose, heat protection was not a priority. It goes without saying that the hall has been planned and executed in compliance with the regulations for buildings of this type – especially the statutory ventilation areas.
These are realized by grilles above the sectional vehicle door and ventilation louvres in the emergency exit door. Additional controllable ventilation of the service hall is provided by HAHN louvre windows that extend all the way to the building roof.
The HAHN louvre window type S9 with ultra-slim profiles and frameless louvres ensure maximum ventilation even with small opening dimensions, there is no limit to the frame height of the louvre vent.
Further examples of high building glazing with HAHN louvres can also be found in the ”<link http: riversidequarter.com external-link-new-window external link in new>Wandsworth Riverside” project in London, where HAHN S9 louvres are integrated into five high-rise facades over metres on each building.
For the car-pool service hall of the TU Dortmund, louvres have been fixed at the top of the frame to provide the same look for the whole facade height. Louvres have been glazed with frosted (opaque) glass to match the remaining building construction – design with function!
Wherever insulated glazing is not necessary, but nevertheless good fit and attractive appearance come to the fore, the single glazed HAHN louvre window S9 is the right choice for your project.
